Ok so I'm not exactly sure how to do this, but worst case I end up some laughing stock on a Facebook comment....
There are a LOT of kids in my life. Besides my two and the 5, soon to be 6 amazing little people that are in my family, have an amazing network of moms with adorable kids through my mom's group. Still, doesn't make my two any more easy to manage sometimes. I've been lucky lately, and the normal 6 am wake ups have turned into 730! Actually looking forward to winter somewhat, no sun until 9 am.... Linc and Tristan have an interesting relationship in the mornings. Tristan would sleep until 10 if allowed, and Linc is an early riser. Normally they will have conversations at night and in the morning when they are up at the same time. I've occasionally even gone in to check (normally leave them until I hear screaming.....) and found Linc curled up in T's bed rubbing his back, and explaining that it's "do-dos" time and to close his eyes. He seems to have stepped into a mommy role with him lately, kid of funny to watch until someone starting screaming, which is often! "You let that go, right NOW" is common lately in this house, but it doesn't come from me! When I ask Linc about it, I get "but it's my turn Mommy" and while I try to explain that Mommy says that because you are fighting over it or it's dangerous, not because it's Mommy's turn, I get "ok mommy, you can have a turn now then" with Linc then proceeding to run after Tristan to rip whatever toy he may have out of his hands so that I can now have a turn. Need to find a way to stop laughing while parenting and explaining, just isn't as effective.
One thing we are still working on Linc with is going by himself to the potty. 9 out of 10 times it's us taking him, removing all of his clothes from the waist down, including socks, peeing and then getting him dressed. While I'm sure his preschool teaching will love the extra 5 minutes it takes to do this, we would really like to get him to be able to go on his own, especially since he's capable when there is motivation like a treat at the end. As usual though, my kids had a surprise for me yesterday. I wake up to T screaming, which is very weird, as he is normally a very happy kid in the AM. Run into his room, and calm him down and all I get is "Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln" and him climbing to Linc's bed. Linc as it turns out isn't in there, which makes the heart pound a bit. Lights are all still off, no sign of Linc in the upstairs areas, and I'm about to head downstairs when I hear giggling. Backtracking to the closed bathroom door, I open to find my son, buck naked on the toilet, with Daddy's forgotten Iphone, in the dark, pooping! Must have been on there for a while cause the battery was about 2 minutes from dead and his bum had a ring for hours! But success on independence for the potty, bonus for it being in the AM giving me that precious 2 extra minutes :)
